The decision of British charter airline operator Thomas Cook to start it's summer flights into
Bodrum (Turkey) from April 1st, a month earlier than last year, has given
Altinkum's tourist industry a timely boost.

Local hotels are reporting a big increase on bookings compared to last season, with
apartment rentals experiencing an even bigger increase. Many of the apartments
built over the last few years are now available for rental with an increasing number of British
and Irish using their second homes not just for family holidays but also to provide an
additional income or pension.

The tourist season now runs from the beginning of April until the end of November, with
Turkish airline Onur air offering cheap flights all year round from Manchester and Gatwick
into Bodrum.

An increasing number of UK and Irish citizens are now buying property in the
Altinkum/Akbuk area. You can pick up some fantastic bargains, with large 1 bedroom apartments
selling for under £20,000, and because capital appreciation is averaging almost 30% per
annum, you can expect to double your money in less than 4 years, with the added incentive
of good rental potential" he added.

TWO GOLF COURSES FOR ALTINKUM, TURKEY

Great news for golfers who have bought, or are thinking of buying, property in the Aegean coastal resorts of Altinkum or Akbuk.

The Turkish Ministry for Culture and Tourism has announced that they will release land to build two golf courses in the Altinkum area. One will be built in Yesilkent approximately two miles from the centre of Altinkum, whilst the other will be built just off the Didum to Akbuk road. Interested developers have until the end of January 2007 to apply to the ministry with the land being auctioned in February. Building is expected to be underway by the middle of the year.

With so many overseas investors buying in the area the ministry have made the area a Culture and Tourism Reserve Zone and will be looking at further ways to help tourism in the area.

In a poll which may be of interest to those considering investing in overseas property, Turkey has been identified as one of the best tourism destinations by an industry magazine.

German publication Tourist Report placed Turkey second in a list of 12 Mediterranean and Black Sea locations ahead of Spain, Altinkum Voices reported.

According to the newspaper, Turkey received praise for its tourist accommodation and service, while the country's marketing campaign in the UK also took top honours.

The magazine's poll saw Turkey compared with the likes of Spain, the Canary Islands, Greece, Portugal and overall winner the Balearic Islands.
Interest in Turkey among overseas property investors had increased significantly over the first half of this year, Easier reports.

Britons are increasingly looking beyond traditional markets for their second home and property investments to pursue opportunities within Turkey, she stated.

Joe Calzaghe invests in Altinkum

Joe is so confident in the future of these Eastern European countries that he purchased a property in Altinkum, Turkey. Joe's three bedroom penthouse cost just £44,750 (or €65,000) th.  I've bought the three bedroom penthouse in Turkey for my own use and for family and friends.  I've yet to visit either place but I plan to once they're built and I have a little more time on my hands.  I've bought the properties off-plan and they'll be completed by the end of next year
